CompanyEmpresaProdiel, the renewable energies multinational, will be in charge of constructing the El Bonal photovoltaic plant for Renovalia Energy Group. The plant, with a capacity of 79 megawatts, will be able to supply clean energy to over 50,000 homes. Located in Puertollano, this project will have a direct impact on local employment, as, in its construction, over 200 jobs will be created, 30% of them highly-qualified or specialised. Prodiel will be in charge of executing this contract, which includes the engineering, construction and commissioning of the project, as well as the High Voltage connection with the construction of a 220/20kV transformer substation and its connection to the existing overhead line by means of a double-circuit overhead line. The energy generated will be injected into the system at the “Elcogas” substation of REE, which is located in the municipality of Puertollano itself. It is envisaged that the project will be connected to the grid in the third quarter of 2020. With regard to the technical details, the plant will be composed of 250,000 solar panels, supported on 4,000 fixed structures. They will cover the 115 hectares of land which comprise the plant, equivalent to the surface area of over 200 football fields. The production of the plant will be 130 GWh a year, which will avoid the emission of over 60,000 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere each year. This plant, together with all the other renewable energy resources that have been constructed in the area, is truly a sign of revitalisation for the local population, which is historically dedicated to agriculture, livestock farming and metal industries. Today, Puertollano is known as the ‘City of Energy’, as it is one of the leading cities in the country in terms of renewable energy production capacity. With this new project, Prodiel exceeds 1,000 megawatts of photovoltaic plants in Spain under execution in the last two years.
